Life Coach (Maryview Emergency Department):

Catholic Charities of Eastern Virginia, Inc. is looking for a Life Coach to serve in the Emergency Department at Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center in Portsmouth, VA. The ideal candidate will be familiar with community resources on the peninsula and have a strong history of medical experience. The qualified candidate should be an LPN, CNA, ED Technician, Medical Assistant, or Pharmacy Technician and have worked in a Medical setting for no less than one year.

This is a full-time position with benefits and the hours rotate monthly with two different shifts, 8:00am-4:30pm and 11:30am-8:00pm. The candidate will work with hospital staff to identify patients for the “Life Coach” services, educate patients on available resources, coordinate access to PCP and acute/specialty care personnel, monitor services and provide written quarterly reports and other duties as assigned. The candidate should be computer literate, a self-starter, well organized, have a valid Virginia driver’s license, and be able to adapt to a flexible work schedule. Financial & Housing Counseling Grants Manager

Catholic Charities of Eastern Virginia is seeking a full-time Financial & Housing Counseling Grants Manager at our Chesapeake office location. The Manger is to provide managerial oversight and supervision of all activities and staff within the Financial and Housing Counseling Department.  The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge in grant writing and reporting, as well as the establishment and evaluation of outcomes & goals. The Manager will be a certified housing counselor, have knowledge in running a Debt Management Program, and be familiar with HUD counseling and reporting  activities.  The Manager will provide client level direct counseling services, present financial education workshops, and attend community events in support of the program.  S/he will also be responsible for completing all departments federal, state and private grant applications and reporting requirements.  The position is also responsible for all Due Diligence Questionnaires and state reporting requirements related to the Debt Management Program.  This position will require the successful candidate to become certified in Housing Counseling, Credit Counseling and Reverse Mortgage.

The qualified candidate will hold a 4 year college degree or  three to five years of experience in credit and housing counseling; have extensive experience in grant writing and reporting; be familiar with Counselor Max data management software. The candidate should have knowledge of community resources and be computer proficient in Outlook, Excel, Access and Word. Financial and Housing Counselor (Part-Time – 32 Hours)

Catholic Charities of Eastern Virginia is searching for a qualified part-time Financial and Housing Counselor to serve out of both the Newport News and Chesapeake (Churchland) offices. The primary job of a Financial and Housing Counselor is to provide clients with professional financial and/or housing counseling services. Counselors will advise and educate clients on a variety of financial topics and use professional discretion and judgment to help clients set up and implement an individually tailored Action Plan that addresses their specific issues and concerns. To fulfill these roles the counselor must have good interpersonal skills, possess a working knowledge of finances/credit, understand default and loss mitigation solutions, be an effective problem-solver, and be able to convey suggestions/ideas in a constructive, nonjudgmental manner.

Industry professional certification(s) is/are required by counselors. Counselors must dress and act professionally, must be organized and efficient in time/work management, and be able to perform all duties with minimal supervision. The qualified candidate will possess a High School Diploma or GED, Associates or Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred, two or more years experience in financial industry, and ability to work on projects independently. The candidate must be able to compose educational curriculums in support of community outreach and educational activities, have basic proficiency with calculator, Microsoft Word, Excel, & Outlook, and general filing and administrative tasks, retain the ability to adhere to and follow HUD Federal regulations and other funder reporting guidelines that includes appropriate case documentation, data entry, client action steps, client follow up and closing protocols. This position requires some regional travel and will be based out of the Newport News office as well as the Chesapeake (Churchland) office. TRAINING AND WORK OPPORTUNITY

PROVIDING IN-HOME RESPITE CARE FOR OLDER ADULTS

Applications are now being taken for In-Home Respite Care Workers ages 18 through retirement years, for the Peninsula Area.  After completing a 25-hour free training program, the workers will be put on CCEVA’s registry and assignments will be given to work in 3- to 8-hour increments in various households in the Hampton Roads area.  This is considered a contracted position, part-time with flexible schedules, and pays $8.00/hour.  The next training session will be held in the next two months.

Qualifications are: a sincere interest in helping older adults to maintain some independence, a caring spirit and an initial commitment to work in the program for four months after the training.  The Respite Worker will also be required to complete a Social Service and Criminal Background check.  For more information or an application, call the In-Home Respite Care coordinator, at Catholic Charities of Eastern Virginia 757-875-0060.
