Companion Care Pilot Program Workers 

CCEVA is hiring several Companion Care workers to provide companionship to clients enrolled in the Companion Care Pilot Program in order for them to stay socially engaged and to provide assistance with their daily activities in order to remain in their home comfortably and safely. The Companion Care Program provides non-medical, in-home support services such as: home management (light housekeeping, laundry, bed making, and trash removal), meal planning and preparation, grocery shopping and running errands for client, transporting clients in your car to run errands and shopping, and providing medication reminders.

Successful applicants will have two or more years of recent experience in caring for the elderly.  Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or have successfully completed a Home Care Training Program is preferred.  Candidates should be dependable, people-oriented, have attention to detail, and ability to work independently.  Must have an insured vehicle and a valid Virginia Driver’s License in good standing, a High School Diploma or equivalent, and be First Aid/CPR certified.  Applicants should have a working telephone with voicemail, must have a clean background check, a negative TB test, negative drug test and must complete a 25-hour training course.  The physical requirements of the job are: ability to bend over, ability to stand for extended periods of time, lift 10 lbs., push a vacuum, and climb stairs.

In-Home Respite Care Workers

Applications are now being taken for In-Home Respite Care Workers ages 18 through retirement years.  After completing a 25-hour free training program, the workers will be put on CCEVA’s registry and assignments will be given to work in 3- to 8-hour increments in various households in the Hampton Roads area.  This is considered a contracted position, part-time with flexible schedules.

Qualifications are: a sincere interest in helping older adults to maintain some independence, a caring spirit and an initial commitment to work in the program for four months after the training.  The Respite Worker will also be required to complete a Social Service and Criminal Background check.  For more information or an application, call the In-Home Respite Care coordinator, at Catholic Charities of Eastern Virginia 757-875-0060. Financial and Housing Counselor (Part Time – 24 Hours)

Catholic Charities of Eastern Virginia is searching for a qualified Financial and Housing Counselor to serve primarily out of our Chesapeake (Churchland) office. The primary job of a Financial and Housing Counselor is to provide clients with professional financial and/or housing counseling services. Counselors will advise and educate clients on a variety of financial topics and use professional discretion and judgment to help clients set up and implement an individually tailored Action Plan that addresses their specific issues and concerns. To fulfill these roles the counselor must have good interpersonal skills, possess a working knowledge of finances/credit, understand default and loss mitigation solutions, be an effective problem-solver, and be able to convey suggestions/ideas in a constructive, nonjudgmental manner.

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred, two or more years’ experience in financial industry, and ability to work on projects independently. The candidate will develop and compose educational curriculums in support of community outreach and educational activities, have basic proficiency with calculator, Microsoft Word, Excel, & Outlook, and will meet with clients to create action plans to meet their financial goals.  Candidate will adhere to and follow HUD Federal regulations and other funder reporting guidelines that include appropriate case documentation, data entry, client action steps, client follow up and closing protocols.

Post Adoption Case Manager (30 Hours – Norfolk Office)

Catholic Charities of Eastern Virginia is searching for a qualified, full-time Post Adoption Case Manager. The position is located at our Norfolk office. This position reports to the Director of Adoption and Child Welfare. The primary responsibilities of the Post Adoption Case Manager are as follows: 1) Provide case management services for families who have adopted children through the Virginia foster care system. 2) Coordinate and facilitate activities and build community contacts for post-adoptive families. 3) Responsible for locating, developing, or obtaining needed services or resources, coordinating services and service planning with the family, and providing ongoing follow-up and monitoring to assessing ongoing needs of the adoptive families.

This position requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, psychology, counseling, or sociology. Candidates must have a minimum of three (3) years experience in foster care, foster care adoption, adoption, or post adoption services. Candidate must be a self-starter. The position requires confidentiality, community resource building, and regional travel. Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as attention to detail are a must. Candidates must be organized as there is a significant amount of monthly and quarterly reporting that is required.
